Meet Corey

Hello, and welcome to my corner of the world! I’m Corey, a Wedding photographer based in the New York City area, and I specialize in capturing the love and beauty in life’s special moments. Whether it’s a wedding day, proposal, or engagement session, I am dedicated to creating meaningful photographs that tell the unique story of each of my clients. I truly appreciate your taking the time to get to know me a little better. 

I spent most of my younger years in Queens, then moved around in my teenage years. We had lived in North Carolina, Virginia, and Delaware by the time I was old enough to move out. I have always considered New York my home. Now that I’m older, I’ve developed a fondness for all of the beautiful states down the east coast.

My Photography Journey

My love for the art of photography began during high school. Photography was an outlet for self-expression, a way to visualize the words and ideas in my head. This passion eventually led me to work in the fashion industry, where I was fortunate enough to have work featured in some notable publications. As much as I enjoyed the creative process of conceptualizing fashion shoots and working in fashion, I realized that was not the path for me. I put down my camera for a while until I ended up coming back to my original passion. My decision to get back into photography sparked after some personal losses. I realized I had no photographs to look back on and remember those special people, and that memories faltered. I wanted to avail myself of a fuller level of expression. With a renewed sense of purpose, I began a new path as a photographer. Now I poetically document the story of my friends and family and those I’ve been honored to photograph as clients.

Why I Love My Job

I’m in love with the idea of love between individuals. There is something special about capturing a deep connection between two people that cannot be visualized in any other way. Whether a couple is newly engaged, about to walk down the aisle, or has been married for years and years, it is a privilege to be a part of meaningful moments with my clients. On top of photographing weddings, I also enjoy taking headshots and portraits.

I believe that everyone has beauty inside of themselves, and being able to bring that out in a photograph is such a rewarding experience. It is so fulfilling to see clients’ eyes light up when they see their photos and their confidence bloom when they see themselves in a professional photograph. Whatever story a person may hold, documenting a piece of their story in a way that can live on longer than they do is a special thing. I have immense gratitude for my clients who allow me to be a part of telling their stories.

My Philosophy On Photography

My aim when it comes to photography is to bring out the beauty of every moment we are a part of. Love is all around us in the tiny things and the moments that seem insignificant. But when we look back, we want to feel the love of the most simple moments with our loved ones. As a photographer, my role is to guide and help bring out the feelings and beauty that are already there.

Meet My Family

I am part of a blended family of four made up of my wife, her son, Caleb, and our daughter, Arya Belle. My wife, Madelf, and I met at our local Kingdom Hall and were good friends for years before we started dating. I proposed in 2019, and we tied the knot on April 24, 2020, in the midst of the pandemic. We received a surprise a few short later—we were expecting our daughter Arya! Now we are a happy family of four living a beautiful and chaotic life. At present, our lives are dictated by the boss, Arya. As a family, we enjoy spending time volunteering in the community. We are active in Bible education work and do our best to offer practical assistance to those in need. We also love traveling and look forward to many family trips as our children continue to grow.

My Other Pastimes

I enjoy a few simple pastimes when I’m not behind the camera or spending quality time with my family. For example, I love a good read with a nice glass of scotch. I also love being creative by writing poetry and short stories. I’m still a kid at heart, so another muse of mine is watching cartoons, usually anime. Fortunately, my son Caleb enjoys anime as much as I do, and we are slowly getting my wife into it. As Arya grows, I plan to watch as much anime with her as we can!
